  • I really appreciate all the help you are offering me. I have now done these same steps multiple times, including downloading from Apache more than once. When this was complete, I simply double clicked the new version of OO to verify and install it. From that point I went through the standard Apple installation by opening the DMG and dragging the OO program to the image of my Applications folder in the install box. Before doing the installation, I renamed the version of OO already in my applications folder to Open Office.old. This downloaded the DMG to my desktop from pilotfiber.dl.

This gave me I clicked on the download full installation for OSX (version >=10.7) (DMG). Using Chrome, I went to Apache Open Office - Official Site Download. Summary: The newly installed versions all start once, but never again.Ī. Exactly the same problem as for all my other tries. When I quit OO, with the new profile in place, I was unable to reopen. But when I reinstalled, I was able to create a new profile by starting the newly installed version (obtained again from the disc on my desktop). To do this, I had to again reinstall OO, because the installed version would not start and give me a new user profile. I reset my user profile, using the procedure described on the link that you gave me.

Again, multiple tries from various locations. As usual, OO installed successfully and started. I reinstalled OO from the disc image that I am keeping on my desktop.

All I got was the "OO quit unexpectedly" box.

I then restarted my computer, and tried to use OO. I installed the Apple Version of Java 6 successfully, and tried to use OO.

Hopefully, this description of the problem will trigger someone's realization of what is happening and how to fix it.ġ. I cannot tell if OO does it to itself, or if the Apple shut down or restart process is to blame. It seems as though quitting OO disables something in it that it needs to start again. I get its icon bouncing in the Apple programs bar for a few seconds, then the icon disappears and I get the "OO quit" message asking what I want to do. But, as soon as I close the freshly installed OO, by whatever means, I cannot reopen it. There are no problems with graphics, so far as I can tell. Until then, I can open, edit, close, create, save, etc. By once, I mean that it will work until OO is shut down. But it will work once, immediately following a fresh install, no matter from what location I open a document. When OO quits working for me, I cannot get it to come up again from any location, not from the Apple apps folder, nor from any file previously created using OO, nor from any "restart" button. I have read most of the posts in the topic that you mention, but nothing seems to be definitive.
